Linux Ubuntu – nie trzeba go przedstawiać. W tym artykule zajmę się wersją 10.04 LTS, gdyż jest to obecnie najnowsza wersja.
Jak się przygotować do instalacji…

Poniżej opis moich bojów z instalacją Ubuntu na laptopie (LG R310) – może komuś się przyda rozwiązanie kilku problemów, na które natrafiłem 🙂 między innymi – partycjonowanie, naprawa MBR, naprawa GRUB2, ustawienie GRUB2
I. Ogólne informacje i opis działań
Laptop – LG R310 – dysk 320GB podzielony na 2 partycje + partycja Recovery na początku (i jak się później okazało na końcu dysku).
Partycje widoczne to 120GB system (Windows Vista HP) i 160GB dane. Wszedłem do managera dysków (Start -> Uruchom -> compmgmt.msc -> zarządzanie dyskami) i moim oczom ukazały się takie partycje:
1. RECOVERY, SYSTEM, DANE, RECOVERY2 – mój błąd, że nie sprawdziłem, iż wszystkie to partycje podstawowe – jak wiadomo, można mieć ich tylko 4 w ramach jednego dysku.
Komendą zmniejszenia partycji zrobiłem sobie wolne miejsce na Ubuntu – kosztem partycji DANE – powstało mi ok 100GB wolnego miejsca oznaczonego jako UNALLOCATED. Zabrałem się do instalacji Ubuntu… w instalatorze szybko okazało się, że nie jest możliwa instalacja systemu na tym wolnym miejscu :/
Pomyślałem – założę tam partycję, zdejmę i będzie OK. Powrót do Windowsa, zarządzanie dyskami i tu ZONK – nie da się założyć partycji na tym wolnym miejscu. Można tam tylko założyć partycje podstawową, a jak wcześniej pisałem już były 4, rozszerzonej nie mogłem, bo bym musiał ją mieć w ramach podstawowej, połączyć partycji też się już nie dało, przywrócić tym bardziej, bo przecież wcześniej to była część partycji DANE.
Niezła klapa… pomyślałem, że wywalę partycję RECOVERY2, bo niby po co tam jest i będzie OK – jak pomyślałem, tak uczyniłem. Wszystko pięknie instalacja Ubuntu na wolnej przestrzeni się powiodła, GRUB2 działa, jest wybór systemu – CACY!
Szybko się jednak okazało, że po wybraniu Windows – system się nie ładuje tylko wyskakuje LG Recovery Center czy coś w tym stylu i mam tylko opcję przywrócenia systemu lub zrobienia kopii danych i przywrócenia systemu – żadna z tych opcji nie wchodziła w grę, bo to laptop mojej Żony 🙂 (zwanej dalej Żelazną Damą – w skrócie ŻD). ŻD powiedziała jasno, że chce swojego Windowsa ze wszystkimi ustawieniami itp. Ja oczywiście dostęp do wszystkich danych miałem spod Ubuntu. Miałem nawet opcję, żeby jej wszystko do Ubuntu przenieść łącznie z mailami – tu powstał problem, bo importować można tylko z Thunderbirda, a ŻD używała OE 🙁
Pomysł przeniesienia wszystkiego upadł, tak samo szybko, jak się wcześniej narodził.
Pozostało ratowanie tego co jest – czyli dobrego zainstalowanego systemu.
Jak dla mnie ominięcie tego LG Recovery Center było jedno – format partycji RECOVERY – tak też uczyniłem. Po tej operacji powstał kolejny problem – brak MBR – system Windows nie ma się jak odpalić… Sprawa z pozoru prosta – płyta z Windowsem, konsola i fixmbr względnie fixboot – ale! ja nie miałem płyty z Windowsem 🙁
No to zacząłem poszukiwania sposobu, jak naprawić MBR bez płyty z Windowsem. Opcji było kilka – np. Hiren’s Boot CD, Bootable CD, parę innych, ale! to wymagało nagrania płyty – ja takowej nie posiadałem 🙁 pozostało szukania rozwiązania z bootowaniem z pendrive’a – tutaj kolejny problem – żeby przygotować takiego pendrive’a, który mi ruszy z np. Bootable CD – potrzebowałem Windowsa (narzędzia były pod Win [być może są i pod Ubuntu, ale ja jeszcze nie jestem taki biegły w Linuxach]) – ZONK.
II. Naprawa MBR
Zacząłem poszukiwania sposobu naprawienia MBR Windowsa spod Ubuntu – o dziwo jest taki sposób opisany tutaj. Zabrałem się do pracy – szybko się jednak okazało, że brakuje mi ms-sys (ja nie robiłem tego spod LiveCD, tylko spod zainstalowanego Ubuntu). Rozpocząłem poszukiwania ms-sys… znalazłem ale wersję i386 (32bit), ja natomiast potrzebowałem wersji adm64 (64bit) – szybko ją znalazłem.
Miałem wszystko, czego potrzeba – zacząłem działać…
BINGO! Windows się odpala! super! ale jest inny problem… zniknął GRUB 🙁
Sprawa wbrew pozorom nie jest trudna, wiedziałem już o tym wcześniej – wystarczyło naprawić GRUB’a… a to nie byle co, bo to GRUB2 🙂
III. Naprawa GRUB2 (np. po instalacji Windowsa lub przywróceniu MBR – jak u mnie)
Chwila szukania i proszę – gotowa instrukcja. Grub2 naprawiony – wszystko ŚMIGA!
IV. Ustawienie GRUB2
Super, ale postała tylko jedna rzecz – ustawienie Grub’a2, tak, żeby odpalał się Windows jako pierwszy – przypominam, że to laptop ŻD. Można oczywiście mieszać według np. tej instrukcji, ale po co? Mamy takie piękne narzędzie, które nazywa się StartUp-Manager – genialne i proste.
Oto całe moje boje z instalacja Ubuntu na laptopie. Pozostałe instalacje na PC – w sumie 7, poszły gładko 🙂
Polecam Ubuntu, szczególnie w wersji 10.04 LTS – już się nie mogę doczekać wersji 10.10.
Mam nadzieję, że ten artykuł pomoże niektórym w rozwiązaniu swoich problemów.
ps. oczywiście teraz instalacja Windowsa na tym laptopie musi się odbyć z płyty, a sterowniki trzeba będzie pobrać z Internetu – gdyż opcja recovery już nie istnieje.

Będziesz moim mistrzem jak, to rozwiązanie zadziała u mnie. ja co prawda nie miałem problemu z ilością partycji bo mam 4 z czego jedna jest rozszerzona z partycjami logicznymi na Ubuntu, reszta to partycja na Windę XP, partycja z preinstalowalną Windą i jeszcze jakaś dziwna której nie ruszam bo nie wiem do czego służy. Wszystko było ok aż sobie nie zainstalowałem ubuntu 10.04 z jądrem skompilowanym pod procesory atoma. Grub2 widzi Windowsa i preinstalowalną partycje ale przy próbie bootowania wywala komunikat: reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.
No i jak, udało się?
Poprzednią wypowiedź napisałem przed sesją, siłą rzeczy nie miałem czasu i możliwości się za to zabrać. Teraz już mam trochę wolnego czasu, więc właśnie zabrałem się do pracy. Jeszcze dziś pewnie dam odpowiedź czy wszystko poszło ok.
No mistrzu, zadanie wykonane, windows działa. Jeszcze tylko przywrócenie gruba, ale to czysta formalność. Swoją drogą dziwna sprawa ze samo zainstalowanie ubuntu i dodanie trochę przerobionego jądra, zepsuło mbr windowsa. Bardzo się cieszę ze trafiłem na ten blog, sam bym nie wpadł na takie rozwiązanie, byłem święcie przekonany że problem leży w grubie. Jeszcze raz stokrotne dzięki.
No niestety przedwcześnie się ucieszyłem. Po przywróceniu gruba sytuacja się powtarza, grub niszczy MRB windowsa, widzi go ale nie może bootować.
Dziwne… po naprawie MBR i przywróceniu GRUB2 powinno działać. Mam nadzieje, że masz Windowsa i Ubuntu na osobnych partycjach…
Sposób opisany w tym artykule na pewno działa, nawet po aktualizacji GRUB2. Spróbuj jeszcze raz zrobić dokładnie krok po kroku.
Tak windows i ubuntu są na osobnych partycjach. Próbowałem na różne sposoby z livecd i bez livecd, ale wydaję mi się że to nie ma znaczenia sposób jest dobry ale wydaję mi się że coś z grubem jest nie tak, psuje MBR windowsa.
Mam jeszcze jedną wolną partycje logiczną 8 giga. Zainstaluje tam ubuntu od nowa, nadpisze partycje z grubem i może będzie wreszcie działało.
Pomogła, instalacja ubuntu od nowa, tak jak sądziłem coś musiało być nie tak z grubem. Na szczęście nowa instalacja ubuntu to nie to co instalacja windowsa… wiadomo stara partycja home + skrypt z instalacją programów = całkowicie skonfigurowane ubuntu. Tak czy siak jeszcze raz dzięki, gdybym nie wiedział o tym przywróceniu MBR windy, to reinstalka ubuntu itak nic by nie dała.
